WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? wrote for the Basel Family Magazine a summary of what you will need to know. Check out the article to find out the most important things you should know, about relocating a dog or getting a dog. 

There are for example some administrative things you have to organize after you entered Switzerland (or Basel Stadt):

• Visit a veterinarian within 10 days after you have entered Switzerland. Your vet will take care of the mandatory registration in the national pet database of Switzerland, AMICUS.
• Register your dog within 10 days after entering Switzerland or the canton at the Basel Stadt veterinary office.

Most of your dog related questions will be answered, like:

• What do I have to do before I own the dog? 
• Where can I purchase a dog? 
• How do I import my dog into Switzerland? 
• Where do I register my dog in Basel? 
• Do I need insurance for my dog? 
• Do I have to visit dog training with the dog? 
• Do I need a ticket for my dog on public transport? 
• etc.
